Vicodine is a combination of acetaminophen and Hydrocodone liquid. There are truly man benefits of Vicodin as it is an effective pain reliever. But, for using vicodine there are some certain ways and precautions that need to be followed. Especially when it comes to pregnant women, they can not use this drug unless and until their doctor prescribes it for them. And that is also because there are certain warnings and side effects related to vicodine when it comes to it’s use by the pregnant women. There are no solid proofs or evidences as to rightly say that this drug should not be taken. But the doctors advise that Vicodine should not be taken whilke one is pregnant. A pregnant woman may have this drug if and when recommended by the doctor. Without doctor’s recommendations, this drug proves to be fatal for both mother and child’s health.

There are also some other warnings associated with vicodine taken during pregnancy. These include the following:

  • Stuffy nose
  • Indigestion
  • Pain in muscles

Patients usually experience these side effects within twenty four hours after taking this drug. Back pains and the pains in the muscles usually fade away within forty eight hours and do not cause much trouble.

Water intake should be increased by a pregnant woman while having intake of this drug. The drug needs to be taken only and if the doctor recommends it to the pregnant women and for that the pregnant woman is always advised to drink loads of water and also to have positive aspect of thinking for everything. Before starting it’s intake, the recommendations from the doctor must be taken other wise it may lead to harm to the baby and mom to be both.

Vicodine also disturbs and disrupts the thinking patterns of the user. No such task is advised to be done by the patient that requires focus and attention if the patient has taken vicodine. It is always advised that vicodine must not be taken if one has to do attention seeking tasks. If also any other drug or alcohol is being used while being pregnant and above all being on vicodine; as it may cause serious liver problems.

To conclude, it is rightly said that no solid proofs or researches have been found and done on the basis of which vicodine must be prohibited for the pregnant wome. But on the other hand, the doctors avoid to recommend this medicine because of all obvious reasons stated above. Therefore a patient must have doctor’s recommendations and complete prescription about the dosage and frequency of doses before using this drug.
